Hemp Hearts - More Than Just Seeds

How to Stop Hearing Loss

My mother is almost 90 years and has a hearing loss problem. Her problem started when she was around 70 years. But, most health or physical issues start much earlier. They start from the early twenties or sooner. As you age, your various organs and physical structures start to weaken and deteriorate and become less active. The deterioration rate depends on your emotional and physical health.

Your health depends on your eating habits and the nutrients that you supply to your body.

Loud Noises

How can you tell if you will have hearing loss when you get older? First you have to protect your ears from over stimulation. Listening to loud music with or without ear phone can damage your ear and make them less sensitive as you age. It is best to keep the volume natural. If you work in a high noise surrounding, then you need to use protective ear covers.

Next, when you clean your ears of ear wax, is the wax hard or soft? If it is hard, then you need to eat more good oils – omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9. These oils – olive oil, fish oil, flax oil, hemp oil, caster oil, and primrose oil – help keep ear wax softer and easier to clean out of your ears. Hard wax is hard to clean out of your ears and tends to deposit on your ear drum, slowly over time, making it stiff and less able to vibrate.

Anti-oxidants

Make sure your diet is high in anti-oxidants. This can be in the form of food – fruits and vegetables – or supplements. But keep in mind that only a certain amount of the supplements you take are absorbed. So you normally need to take more than is recommended. A good anti-oxidant will help fight off and eliminate free radicals that damage the tissue in your ear drum and surrounding areas. Free radicals can damage your ear by causing ear inflammation. This inflammation can cause loss of hearing and permanent damage to your ear.

MSM Remedy

One other remedy that you can use to keep your ears healthy is to use MSM eye drops. A few drops in both ears, just before bedtime, will keep your ear drum from hardening and permeable. MSM accumulate in cell walls to make them soft and flexible which allows nutrients to enter the cell and toxins to move out of the cell. MSM is also an anti-oxidant since it will tie up protein that can accumulate in your ear tissue and damage it.

MSM eye drops are available on the internet and are inexpensive. Just a side note, use them for your eyes and give yourself more health benefits. Using MSM in your eyes will insure that you will never have Glaucoma. Again MSM will make tissue permeable and the will release pressure form the eyeball – Glaucoma- or release pressure from behind the eardrum bring the eardrum back to normal.

So, protect your ears from loud noises, especially if these noises are heard for long periods at time. Then eat a lot of fruits and vegetables or chose a good anti-oxidant supplement to get the anti-oxidants that will protect your ears from free radical damage. Finally, use MSM eye drops in your ears to keep your ear drum flexible so it can vibrate and give you hearing.

Green Smoothie Recipes Made Easy

Green smoothies are super easy to make, provide energy and health benefits, and are great for natural weight loss. My favorite benefit is that it is anti-aging and nutrient dense. You will learn top 10 tips to making healthy green smoothies.

I use my Vitamix Blender to make a smoothie every morning that I can sip through breakfast and throughout the day

Green smoothies keeps my energy level up and my hunger at bay. I enjoy a generous healthy smoothie in the morning, then I have a great lunch of my choice, sip on some more of the smoothie between lunch and dinner and have a modest dinner.

You will naturally come to your ideal weight by doing this. We have to stop this epidemic of going on diet pills and yo-yo dieting. Unless there are medical reasons (like hypothyroidism issues which slows down your metabolism), there is no reason that you will not lose weight if you follow simple healthy living rules.

But I digress… back to green smoothie recipes.

Here are 10 tips to get you going on your green smoothie journey:

1. Use one or two fresh or frozen fruits as natural sweeteners. Bananas, sweet ripe mangoes, pineapple, kiwi, pear, berries. The choices are endless.

2. Cucumbers, honey dew, watermelon are great as a base for extra water content.

3. Adding half a carrot or half of a celery stick one way of sneaking in some extra veggies. Again experiment with other veggies.

4. Add ice and/or water to make your smoothie to the consistency you like. I like thinner consistency so I can easily sip with a straw.

5. Choose a leafy green such as spinach or kale, or parsley and cilantro. Herbs have great detoxifying properties so don’t forget those. Rotate your greens and try different ones. Add about one cupful of a leafy green of your choice or start with a smaller quantity if you are new to making smoothies.

6. You can add juices to sweeten them more such as cranberry, orange, and pineapple. Please make sure you don’t add too much, as you get a natural sweetness from the fruits you are adding in.

7. Adding a tablespoon of hemp powder is an awesome way to get some extra natural protein. Hemp seeds/powder is a complete protein, has Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), high in fiber and rich in minerals like iron and magnesium.

8. Please try to buy organic whenever possible. That’s less chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides in your smoothie.

9. I suggest you do invest in a great blender. And I am extremely biased with my Vitamix. It is a powerful blender that most smoothie enthusiasts and raw foodists use for their creations. It is pricy but once you own one, you will never look at another blender. And it will pay for itself many times over.

10. Have fun creating your combinations. Use left over veggies and whatever fruit you have on hand and get creative.

Here are 2 recipe samples for you. Enjoy! Please go to my site for additional green smoothie recipes and other healthiest foods recipes.

Green Smoothie Recipe #1

The Power Of Niche Marketing

Have you ever been over whelmed by all the competition on the internet. All the other companies going after the same customers that you are. Well panic not the world wide web is a MASSIVE market place and the best strategy is to create your own market.

Don't Compete Be Unique

1. The benefits of niche marketing
2. Don't disappear in the crowd
3. The importance of a niche business
4. Ways of creating niches
5. Don't re-invent the wheel

######################################################### ###############

1. Niche marketing is the best way for the smaller business person to level the playing field against the larger companies. Niche marketing is where you find a corner of your particular market which is exclusive to you. There are a few ways of finding your niche and this article is about some of the aspect concerning niche marketing

————————————————– —————

2. The great thing about having a niche business is the fact that you are not struggling to compete against established marketers. Therefore you will not be invisible and you wont disappear in the crowd.Recreating products and concepts is a vital business skill I would go as far as saying it will keep you ahead of the game. Most big companies hire developers to improve on their products and service. So it is no different for the small business person.

————————————————– —————

3. A way of developing a niche is to sell to people you are familiar with eg. You could be a ex chef selling Automatic self lighting ovens which cleaned itself every night.

Do you get it, if you are familiar with a certain business you can cater for it like no other company.

Also you can concentrate on a smaller part of the market and become a specialist in that field. Like concentrating on helping diabetic people losing weight, instead of the whole weight loss market.

Just imagine for one moment that you were the only one selling automatic self cleaning cookers to the catering trade. You would corner the that market and make a fortune.

————————————————– —————

4. The Japanese are great at taking other's ideas and improving on them and they are not doing to bad are they? Great inventors like Henry Ford and Edison have created great inventions and others have taken them to another level. The Japanese have shown the importance of understanding the power niche business that is why they are one of the wealthier countries in the world today.

————————————————– —————

5. Creating niche business doesn't require you to invent the wheel, it only requires thinking of ways to improve it. That is where you will get more sales, and more referrals. So that in the end your business will grow without competing with the bigger companies.

————————————————– —————

In general you can see the benefits of niche marketing which is by cornering the market in your particular field, you differienciate your business. You avoid competing with the big boys. Therefore gaining your own exclusive market, which in turn will lead to more profits.

Vegan Protein Powder for Bodybuilders, Athletes and Conscious Eaters

It’s amazing how the word ‘vegan’ comes with so many negative connotations. It is assumed that vegans are choosing a life of deficiency and malnourishment, when the truth is almost exactly the opposite. Responsible vegans eat extremely well, with a more diverse and well balanced diet than many vegetarians and meat eaters. Education is the key to eating well, and ensuring that the right amount of protein, minerals, fats and carbs are incorporated into a vegan diet.

Another misconception is that athletes and bodybuilders can’t get enough protein to build muscle and maintain weight. In fact, vegan protein powders are among the highest quality products available today, with all of the protein, minerals and amino acids that contribute to a balanced diet. Vegan proteins include soy, rice, hemp and pea protein. The biological value of these proteins is generally very high, and especially hemp and pea protein are absorbed efficiently and digested easily. A simple smoothie can easily deliver the daily requirement for protein to vegans, and provide additional protein to athletes and bodybuilders. In fact, vegan protein sources like pea, hemp, rice and soy are thought by many to be better quality, less processed and easier to absorb.

Another leading animal protein that is contained in so many shakes and powders is whey protein. While whey is commonly used, it is non-vegan, and often causes problems for individuals who are lactose in tolerant or who suffer from allergies. Whey is actually a by-product of the dairy industry, specifically cheese, which would otherwise be discarded until it was packaged and marketed by the dairy industry and a high quality protein. Whey is actually harder to absorb and can be difficult to digest for many people. Whey is highly processed before it is converted to a powder and flavor is added, which is a concern for many people.

Vegan protein powders are excellent no matter what your daily eating habits are, vegan or non-vegan. What matters is not the label ‘vegan’, but the quality of the products and benefits to your body.

Why Wear Hemp Clothing?

The Forgotten Source

It is a source leading the way to health, and happiness. It is under us, over us, and all around us. Yet in spite of this, it is might be the last source you turn to. The reasons are quite simple. There are not enough hours in the day, you do not have the right equipment, you do not want to get dirty, you do not feel your body is in the right shape, you do not have enough money, or you find it a bit scary.

With all any of those excuses, it is easier to put that source out of mind. While that is out of mind, things this source can help with are placed on the back burner. Placing things on the back burner until you have the time is fine. Fine until they boil over and create a mess. Once you tap into that forgotten source, you can find a way to clean up almost any mess. The challenge is that it is extremely difficult to tap into anything that has been put out of mind.

The solution to that is simple. Learn how to connect with the forgotten source and you have the freedom to tap into it whenever you choose. Connecting with this source also helps to raise your awareness. Raising your awareness helps you to take care of those things on the back burner before they boil over.

Unlike such practices such as styles of Usui Reiki Ryoho that honor the teachings of Mikao Usui, dedication to study and practice with a qualified Shihan (teacher) is not always required. Teachers are good, but the forgotten source is both teaching and forgiving once you have the introduction.

Finding that forgotten source can be easy and when you look, you will find more than you seek. You can take pleasure in its beauty, discover its range from soft to invigorating heat, bask in its pleasant smells or tastes, listen to sounds ranging from hypnotizing to scary, and much more.

As you no doubt have figured out, the forgotten source is Nature.
Connecting with Nature can help you step into that stream of well-being. Standing near one of the breathtaking waterfalls at various locations on this earth it is impossible to ignore the energy of nature. As energizing as these locations are, you do not have to go any further then your back yard, or window in your home to benefit for Nature's energy. Once you have learned to connect with nature, regardless of where you are the life giving energy nature has to offer, is yours.

When was the last time you looked up at the clouds and simply let go your worries and thoughts to be mesmerized by their form? When was the last time you could forecast rain by looking at the sky or the trees' leaves? When life seems overwhelming have you ever found your mind in that peaceful state as the stars in the night sky dissolved your worries, allowing you to see the solutions? Walking on the moon requires technology and money. You can absorb the mystery and romance of the moon's wondrous energy by simply viewing it from a window.

The next time you step out your door look carefully at what is under your feet. In many parts of the world that plant some people tag an annoying weed, as written in Romeo and Juliet, can heal your skin and more. While that creature sunning itself on a nearby rock might make you run away, is it an actual danger or a danger created by fiction? To connect with nature is not to put yourself in danger, but rather to connect and embrace the positive that you otherwise might never see, feel, hear, taste, or smell. In some areas such as hiking, swimming and viewing wildlife common sense comes into play. On the other hand, common sense is required every time you cross a street or step into any vehicle.

An older man in a neighboring town had the perfect alternative to alcohol or drugs for a stressful day. His bird feeder and a little creative thinking gave him the solution. On the days when he needed some relief, he would go outside and stand by the feeder. He would put some of the seeds in his hand, hold his hand over his head and at least one little bird would then land on his hand. He had learned to connect with one type of bird that never let him down. Landing in the palm of his hand always brought him a smile. Then as the birds left his palm, their wings carried the stresses of his day away.

One day walking in my yard I noticed a butterfly thrashing about in the grass. Common sense says not to touch a butterfly's wings, but I lower my hand into the grass nearby the butterfly. The butterfly crawled over and onto my palm. As I watched the butterfly moving its wings up and down as it sat in my open hand my mind became peaceful. I sat down watching the butterfly in my hand and after a while it flew off leaving me with a smile. When connecting with nature, often all you have to do is sit back and watch.

In all of nature, is that sometimes illusive stream of well-being. Take a moment and do this little exercise. Completely relax all your muscles and your mind. Allow yourself to see, hear, feel, and smell in any way that is comfortable for you. Do not rely on your eyes, ears, or nose, but simply allow your whole self to receive. Focus on the air. Is it moving fast or slow? Is it hot or cold? Is there a color or scent in the air? As the air moves into your lungs how does it feel? Now as you have that awareness of the air bringing oxygen to you, which is absorbed into your cells requiring it for life, you have received a taste of the energy nature has to offer.

The location in which I teach Gendai Reiki-ho, Komyo Reiki, Meditation and Connecting with nature is nestled in the trees. The moment a person steps out of his or her vehicle balance and harmony are offered by nature. What is in balance and surrounded by harmony heals, and so even the Japanese Reiki healing sessions I offer begin before the person I physically greet the person.

Now turn your attention to those uneventful backyards. Did you notice those bold flowers appearing in the most unlikely of places? Did you spot either a toad or snake on patrol for unwelcome insects in the garden or under the bushes? Did you see the dandelion whose roots have been appointed as the soil's doctor? Did you see the chipmunk dashing across the street with his tail straight up so motorists could see him? Did you feel the welcome softness of leaf or take in the enjoyable smell of a flower? Did you see those busy little lives who take their task of pollination so seriously? In the winter, did you see the turkeys and deer breaking up the ice on the driveway? Yes, even those backyards offer smiles that can cancel out most of the negative in life, and allow you to change your thinking to positive.

Nature is both forgiving and teaching. Everything you put into your body and surround yourself with traveled some path to you from the earth. Being omnivores by birth, people obtain energy to maintain the physical body directly from plants, the produces, or other animals. Each person's life depends upon nature. Does not your awakening, production hours, winding down, and then sleep resemble the four seasons? We do not trap sunlight the way plants do, but have you ever felt "a bit off" during that time of the year when the hours of daylight are fewer then night or on some cloudy days? The next time you feel a little off on a cloudy day close your eyes and visualize the life giving sun shining.

So why not simply recognize your birthright connection to nature and embrace that forgotten source of energy and wonderment. Take time to enjoy the beauty of some form of wildlife, to laugh at the antics of other wildlife, or at a safe distance be in awe at the power of still other wildlife. All of wildlife has something to offer to you, and all you have to do is take the time to accept.

The next time you crumble about the holes dug in your backyard, remember who made those holes could be the same wildlife that gave up its home for you to build your home. That same wildlife might also give you wonderful smiles that brighten your day, if you simply take a few minutes to sit quietly and look.

The next time you feel a bit deprived because you have no backyard, go or the local park or simply look out a window. Regardless of what we build, it is surrounded by nature in some form

How Hemp Seed Oil Can Help Your Arthritis

Food for Thought: Bruxism and Clenching

Well, the statistics vary depending on your source; however, a large number of Americans suffer from either clenching or grinding. Yet, only 80% are aware of it.

As professionals, we are familiar with the short-term effects:

Headache – Bruxism sufferers are three times more likely to suffer from headaches.

Facial myalgia (aching jaw & facial muscles)

Ear ache

Tightness/stiffness of the shoulders

Limitation of mouth opening

Sleep disruption

Sleep disruption of bed partner due to noise

Excess tooth mobility

Inflamed & receding gums

As well as the long-term effects:

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (sometimes called TMJD or just TMJ)

Tooth wear & breakage

When it comes to causes, there are plenty of explanations such as sleep disorders, caffeine, smoking, medications, drug use, depression, anxiety and other psychological factors. Although, when you sum it all up, it all points to stress!

Now what’s a person to do besides take more medications which only work to complicate matters in the long run?!

Well, to begin with there are night guards; yet, these are designed for symptom relief AND for as effective as they are, they do not address the root of the problem… stress!

So what’s a dental professional to do? Begin by discussing the effects of stress; not just bruxism / clenching. Let them know that stress produces toxins which cause inflammation throughout the body, including the mouth. Inflammation when left untreated, leads to periodontal disease and more. Now here’s where it gets interesting because many of us jump right into how to prevent perio… DON’T go there…

Bruxims / clenching is a symptom of a systemic issue and there are ways to relieve the stress as well as restore the body to a healthier state (in no particular order):

1) yoga ~ sounds odd for a dentist to recommend; yet, yoga has been shown to reduce inflammation AND it’s incredibly relaxing

2) incorporate anti-inflammatory foods i.e. dark leafy greens, spirulina / chlorella,; foods rich in omega 3’s like olive oil, coconut oil, walnuts, hemp seeds

3) include GABA enhancing foods i.e. pumpkin seeds, brown rice and baked potatoes as well as unrefined grains for their soothing vitamin B’s

4) drink lemon water for it’s alkaline forming and cleansing abilities

5) do some DEEP breathing periodically throughout the day

6) journal about anything and everything ~ this is a dynamic way of releasing ALL the distracting and debilitating thoughts

7) exercise, dance and sing (even if it’s only in the shower) ~ dancing and singing allow us to express ourselves which is often neglected in our ‘hurry up and do more now’ schedule. By taking a little time to release the build up of tension relieves the need to release it through our jaws

8) give and get hugs

Does this sound a little bit more than you want to do with your patients? Pick and choose and take baby steps. We are in the position of saving lives and by taking the time to help someone understand that you care enough to see them feel better will make a world of difference for you, your staff and

Hemp the Miracle Fiber

The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer

The Emperor Wears No Clothes is a timeless non-fictional book about the versatile plant Cannabis sativa that every marijuana proponent should be informed about. The author, Jack Herer, presents a historical, social, and economic view of hemp based on twelve years of research. Sixty consistent years of government deception and suppression of the truth, topics ignored by most media, are revealed in this enraging book about marijuana prohibition.

This book, whose title makes an analogy to the classic children's tale The Emperor's New Clothes , surprises, enlightens, shocks, angers, and initiates activism as it informs about one of nature's most utilitarian plants. It covers general facts about Cannabis sativa , history of it's use, the effects of smoking the plants flower buds, the many other uses for the plants other parts, the corruption of the US government and of the wealthy and powerful corporations to whom Cannabis sativa is business competition, the "War on Drugs", the ignorance of our constitutional rights, and suggestions on how we can protect them.

Hemp is a dioecious, woody, herbaceous annual. Each short growing season it reaches heights of twelve to twenty feet, and grows well in any climate or soil condition. Its roots penetrate deep (one foot per month), breaking up compacted and overworked soil, and combating soil erosion. Since it grows so quickly, it could be a year round crop, harvested twice a year, or it could be planted as a second crop, after harvest of a different one. Hemp is also resistant to UV radiation damage, a current threat to 30-50% of soya production. In fact, hemp actually flourishes in the presence of high UV radiation since it protects itself by creating more cannabiniods. This willing plant is able to provide many basic needs of humans anywhere on the planet: food, medicine, treeless shelter and paper, clothing and other textiles, and a renewable fuel alternative to those presently creating acid rain, global warming, and deforestation.

One acre of hemp provides the same amount of cellulose and fiber pulp, used to make paper products and pressed or particleboard, as four acres of trees, while producing four to seven times less pollution. More than anything else, the US imports textiles. Hemp is softer, warmer, stronger and more absorbent than cotton, and it doesn't require the agricultural chemicals that cotton does. Loggers and truck drivers would still have jobs, reforestation could occur; and rivers could recover from wood and paper chemicals.

Nutrition wise, hemp seed is the highest in essential fatty acids and the lowest in saturated fats. It can be made into a tofu-like curd at a cheaper cost than can soya, sprouted to make milk and ice cream or for use in salad, ground and used like flour, or pressed into an oil, whose by-product is a high protein animal feed.

Hemp as fuel for industrial use, electricity, and transportation -each acre is capable of yielding 1,000 gallons of methanol; that's ten tons per acre every four months. It's an annually renewable fuel source, that can be grown for this purpose at the cost of only thirty dollars a ton, Hemp for biomass could be a trillion dollar a year industry, while also improving air quality, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and bringing millions of jobs in energy production, distributing wealth to rural areas and away from the monopolies.

The hurds (pulp left over after fiber is removed) are 77% cellulose (that's 50-100 times the cellulose found in sugarcane or corn stalks) that could be used to produce chemicals, biodegradable plastics, paint, dynamite, and fibers.

Around the same time as pottery making, people began weaving hemp; it's the earliest known woven fabric (8,000-7,000 BC). Based on evidence using the Bushmen of Africa, Scientist-Philosopher Carl Sagan suggested that hemp may have been the first cultivated plant dating back to hunter-gatherer time. By 1,000 years BC hemp was believed to be our planets largest agricultural crop. Between the years of 1763 and 1767, during a cannabis shortage in America, you could be jailed for not growing it. Our forefathers George Washington and Benjamin Franklin grew it. It's even been speculated by historians that the 'War of 1812' was about hemp! According to the 1850 US Census they counted 8,327 hemp plantations, each over 2,000 acres large – this doesn't count family patches or small farms. Until 1883 75-90% of all paper in the world was made of hemp fibers, and until 1937, 70-90% of all rope was hemp. For thousands of years almost all paints and varnishes were made of hempseed and linseed oils (in 1935 alone, in the US, 58,000 tons of hempseed were used for this purpose). In the early 1900's the US Department of Agriculture foresaw the huge potential that marijuana had to be the planets largest industry, claiming that once a machine was invented that could harvest, strip, and separate the fiber from the pulp that hemp would be the US's number one crop. In 1916, the US government was advising and offering American farmers incentives to grow marijuana for plastic, paper, fiber, and energy needs. In 1917, GW Schlicten realized this mechanic vision the USDA had been waiting for; he called it a 'decorticator'. Both Popular Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering magazines wrote articles foreseeing hemp as being the '' new billion dollar crop '' (It's estimated that today , in the US, the hemp industry could be raking in five hundred billion to one trillion dollars annually). In 1942 the US Department of Agriculture even put out a war movie titled "Hemp For Victory", urging farmers to grow it.

So what happened, you ask? Soon after the 'decorticator' was invented, DuPont invented petrochemical fibers and all too easily 'convinced' the US Congress and Treasury that with his technology, they could replace hempseed oil with these synthetic petrochemicals. The US Treasury dutifully drafted the Marijuana Tax Act. Stick with me as I attempt to untangle this tangled web of interconnected corruption they've woven-DuPont's financial lending institution was Mellon Bank. President Hoover's Secretary of Treasury was Mellon. Mellon then appointed a member of his extended family, Harry Anslinger, as head of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (currently known as the DEA-Drug Enforcement Agency). DuPont, who had just patented a method of making plastic from oil and coal (enter the interests of oil companies), along with Hearst Paper Company, also feeling threatened by the invention of the 'decorticator', paid politicians to outlaw marijuana as a ' narcotic ', and suppress hemp knowledge from schools, researchers, and scientists.

In the US, from the 1840's through the 1890's, Cannabis sativa was being used medicinally. In fact, during this time marijuana tinctures and extracts were the second and third most used medicines in America. At this point in history, for over 3,500 years, Cannabis sativa had been the most widely used plant medicinally all over the world. By 1883 every major city in the US had legal hashish smoking bars. In 1930 the US government did a study on the effects of smoking the herb on off-duty American servicemen in Panama. They came to the conclusion that marijuana smoking wasn't a problem and recommended that no criminal penalties apply to its use. Seven years later the Assistant US Attorney General announced that marijuana could be used long term without "social or emotional outbreaks" and that it was only habit forming on the same level as coffee or sugar. Based on the next seven years of study, in the La Guardia Marijuana Report , the mayor of New York City, Fiorello LaGuardia, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the doctors' researching the report also concluded that marijuana did not cause any kind of violence, and that it also had positive effects on it's smokers.

Marijuana has never acted as a 'gateway drug'; in fact it's been used in alcohol addiction treatment. In Costa Rica, where smoking is socially accepted, as opposed to on enem 'cannabis-free' islands, they don't experience the alcoholic social problems of their island neighbors; and in Holland, where marijuana is available in coffee shops and bars, and smokers aren't persecuted, the number of heroin addicts has declined by 33% since legalization. 1968-1975 Jamaican studies of people who had smoked high level THC marijuana for 6-30 years, in heavy quantities, showed no social consequences, like relation to crime and no psychological consequences, like impairment of motor skills or mental problems. What it did reveal was the plants positive effects as a work motivator, as a tool for concentration and meditation (by the way, marijuana has a historical use in many major religions worldwide), creating an all around sense of well-being, self- assertiveness, and a merry, conscious, and responsible attitude.

Since 1964, at least 60 of over 400 separate compounds that have been isolated from over 1,000 suspected compounds have been found to be therapeutic. In America today there are over 26 million daily marijuana smokers, and 40 million 'occasional' smokers. Some therapeutic uses of smoking: stops asthma attacks, reduces ocular pressure of those with Glaucoma, relieves nausea, stimulates appetites of chemotherapy patients and anorexics, lung expectorant, antispasmodic, reduces intensity of epileptic seizures, relieves symptoms of Muscular Dystrophy, relieves migraine headaches, lowers blood pressure, relaxes muscles, relieves stress, promotes a restful sleep, relieves dementia and depression, and invokes positive 'vibrations'-all without the negative, and sometimes deadly side effects of pharmaceuticals. The plants antibiotic cannabidiolic acids can be applied in a topical form to treat gonorrhea, herpes, arthritis, rheumatism, and cystic fibrosis. Two universities in Madrid, Spain, involving studies on mice and rats stated that, Cannabis sativa's active ingredient, THC, killed tumor cells in a type of cancer previously thought to be 100% fatal. Cannabiniods, the plants active compounds, when injected directly into cancerous brain tumors, were found to completely destroy the tumors, while leaving normal cells untouched. More recent studies show that THC even has its own unique receptor sites in the brain, to which, so far, no other compounds have been found to bind.

These were some reasons the pharmaceutical companies got worried. If marijuana were to be legalized, right away it would replace 10-20% of pharmaceutical drugs, taking billions of dollars a year away from the pharmaceutical companies, who have so far been unsuccessful at synthetically replicating the positive effects of marijuana. Roughly ½ of the funds contributed to government sponsored 'against marijuana' groups come from American pharmaceutical drug companies. The other ½, surprise, surprise, come from the legal tobacco and liquor companies (oil and paper companies are also contributors). In its 10,000-year-old history, zero deaths have been linked to marijuana, but each year alcohol is linked to 100,000 deaths and 70% of child rape, wife beating and murders. An even worse offender is tobacco, as addictive as heroin, which kills more people each year than AIDS, heroin, crack, cocaine, alcohol, car accidents, fire, and murder combined. Meanwhile , Tobacco receives more government subsidies than any other agricultural product in the US. In 1976 Aslinger, head of the DEA, went on a warpath. He denounced the previously mentioned studies, the American Medical Association, and The New York Academy of Medicine and it's doctors, and forbade all federal research on the therapeutic effects of marijuana, even to universities. However, a special exception was made for the pharmaceutical companies, who are not only the only ones allowed to research it, but they even are trusted to regulate themselves.

The American Medical Association spoke out against this law, testifying that what the government was saying about marijuana was "outright tabloid sensationalism" and that the prohibitive marijuana laws would deny the world medicine that had been being safely used for a plethora of symptoms for thousands of years. In 1988, even a DEA judge , after considering fifteen days of testimony and DEA reports, concluded that, "Marijuana is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man". Still, a year later the director of the DEA ordered Cannabis to remain listed as a schedule one narcotic- one having no known medicinal use!

Prison building is currently the largest growth industry. Every state in America is expanding its prisons. Since the 1998 birth of the DEA's "War on Drugs" 75% of those imprisoned (600,000 a year) are there for mere possession of marijuana for personal consumption (not dealing), and since this "war" began, this is what our drug enforcement tax money has been paying for.

In the authors analogy of his book to the well-known children's book The Emperor's New Clothes , Jack Herer likens the Emperor's lies and manipulation to that of our US government, compares the Emperor's powerful guards to our FBI, CIA, DEA, etc. Like the Emperor, our government uses its power to buy the allegiance of other countries through bribery or intimidation (foreign aid, arms sales). And like in the children's story, anyone daring to speak out is slandered, threatened by loss of job, property, or family. Herer likens the Government, using fear and a virtual police state, paid for by our own taxes, to tyrants and prohibitionists of the past who relied on brute force and intimidation. The Emperor Wears No Clothes (because exposed by the truth) author, Jack Herer, alerts us that "it's a crime against our citizens Bill of Rights (written on hemp paper) to imprison innocents to wage a campaign of lies and omission of the facts with our taxes "such as that which has been carried out by our last four presidents (Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan), and that" they're taking away more of our guaranteed constitutional rights than have been taken away for political actions, insurgencies, strikes, uprisings, and wars in the last 200 years combined. In 1999, Herer warned that a top priority of the government, the DEA, and the Republican Party is to pass a bill that automatically takes away 100% of your rights to privacy and freedom from an un warranted search (A prophecy of the Patriot Act?).

What can we do to preserve our basic rights? Herer suggests working to get the issues on the ballots, so we can vote like we're supposed to be able to do, educating others about hemp, and demanding the release of the POW's of the "War on Drugs".

The Most Common Types of Human Intestinal Parasites

What Are Parasites?

Parasites are diverse groups of infective organisms that use different strategies to infect their hosts. Parasites are not only known to infect humans, they are also ever-present among animal groups and plants. Some parasites are found in the external parts of the body, while others can thrive on the inside, usually in the intestinal tracts.

Because of the complexity of parasites, some may require only one host in order to complete its life cycle, while others require vector hosts. Vectors usually are micro-predators, such as small fish, frogs, and birds that transport parasitic infection from one host to another. In this cycle, parasites need to undergo sexual maturity before they can permanently live in any host.

During interactions between the parasites and their hosts one thing is for certain, that the parasites will continue to exploit its gracious hosts not simply living as unwanted tenants, but even feeding off their host's energy and organic nutrients. In short, they cannot simply survive on their own. And to some degree, parasites will exhibit adaptive structural behavior that can cause a scale of health damage to their hosts, such as causing illnesses or diseases, while others can even cause its host's death.

Parasites are opportunistic organisms. They can detect if their host is at its worst health, which gives them the opportunity to proliferate at their best. In this regard, they love to thrive in sick bodies.

Detecting them can be extremely difficult. Seventy percent of parasites are microscopic and only thirty percent can be seen by the naked eye. Microscopic parasites can hide in organs, such as the liver and the brain and no known medical tests yet can detect them. It is much more difficult to get rid of parasites. Most remedies that promise to get rid of them usually only mean that they will help reduce their numbers. Even medicinal drugs, herbs, or respite machines cannot easily eliminate most parasites' tenacity. And although things may seem to be improving for an infected host, re-infection can occur anytime, anywhere, and easily.

Types of Parasites

For most people, the thought of parasites conjures an image of intestinal microscopic worms that attach themselves to the intestinal walls and suck in whatever source of nutrients they can feast on. This idea may be because of the usual vague imagery suggestion by many article write-ups, but the truth about parasites is more than that.

There are four classifications of parasites. The first one is the Protozoa or one-celled parasite. These parasites may infect any single cell and can multiply themselves such as with viruses and bacteria. An example of a Protozoa parasite is Malaria, which is a blood parasite carried by infected mosquitoes that affects the red blood cells. Another is the Naegleria Protozoa that affects brain cells and the spinal cord.

The second kind of parasites is the Nematodes or roundworms. This is how most people picture their parasites. They are bigger than the one-celled Protozoa. They can be ingested through microscopic worms that linger under nail beds, are ingested, and then are hatched into the body. Examples of this type are pinworms, hookworms, and ascaris.

Another kind of parasite is the Trematode or Fluke. These parasites are the hardest to get rid of. Flukes come from eating raw or undercooked fish, meats, and water plants or can be carried by our pets. The most common Flukes are liver flukes that are white flattish-like worms that can infect the gallbladder and duct.

The last type of parasite is the Cestodes or the tapeworms. These worms may grow as long as 33 feet inside the stomach and can lay over one million eggs per day. They are grayish-white in color and can be transmitted from one host to another through the anus-hand-mouth route. They can be passed along by pets and be ingested by eating undercooked meats.

How do they get into Humans?

Parasitic infection is extremely common to everyone, regardless of demographics, race, or economic status. Almost everyone has some. Parasites in humans have been present for thousands of years. Different parasites are transmitted to humans in various ways. They can be picked up just about anywhere, from the food we eat, the water we drink, down to the air we breathe. Others are carried by pets like dogs, birds, and cats. Other parasites may spread through insects such as flies and mosquitoes.

While many may believe that parasites can only be carried by something or someone, other parasites have been known to transport themselves. Some types of parasitic worms can actually jump from the ground to human ankles and bore themselves deep into the skin until they reach the bloodstream and into the intestines.

Home contact is another common means to get infected by parasites. The kitchen and bathroom are some of the dirtiest parts of the house that serves as a breeding ground. Parasites may also be transmitted through sexual activities and people-to-people methods of spreading of diseases. Perhaps the most underestimated mode of transmitting parasites is through the hands of our very own children. Preschoolers and students can bring home parasitic eggs from touching places where many parasitic eggs linger.

What are Natural Remedies?

A better approach to kill parasites is simply to make them feel unwelcome in our body, thereby forcing them to leave on their own. For those who think this may be impossible, they are actually wrong. Most parasitic remedies offered on the market are, to some degree toxic to the body, and do not really guarantee 100% effective results.

Naturally, the body already has antibodies that can effectively fight off and eliminate parasites. For someone suffering from parasitic infection, bringing back the body's natural balance and ability to eradicate its unwanted tenants is by far the best way of handling them. This method is adequate in reducing the parasitic load, slowly stopping them from reproducing, and lowering the risk of getting infected again.

This natural balancing process of eliminating parasites includes proper diet, repairing of the intestines, liver detoxification, inducing coffee enema, colon irrigation, and ridding the body of chemical and metal toxins that can promote parasitic proliferation. Increasing vitality through exercise can help with parasite elimination through proper oxygenation. This program can last for a month or sometimes for a year, depending on the severity of the infection. One thing that should be greatly considered is that this program should only be handled by medical professionals, and the program should be tailored fit to the individual's health level.

The world is inhabited with parasites, and anyone can be vulnerable to its infection. Avoiding them can be difficult, but eliminating them is not impossible. By bring back what the body needs as its source of energy, parasites can naturally be gotten rid of.
